Show Off Your Beautiful Neck
Everyone longs for a long, slender, and taut neck that isn’t wrinkled, crinkled, or sagging. However, factors like age, genetics, the sun, pollution, environmental factors, and stress can cause the neck to sag and the skin to become wrinkly and crinkled. These factors can also cause jowl lines and abnormal contours, making you look years older than you actually are.
Firming creams, lotions, medications, serums, and makeup can only do so much to make your neck look firmer and younger. These are just temporary quick fixes. Luckily, there is a better and more permanent way to correct an aged neck. Say hello to the neck lift!
What Is a Neck Lift?
You might feel that you are not completely ready for a full facelift. This is because your face still looks attractive, young, and radiant. However, over time, you may begin to notice the excess wrinkling of the skin on your neck, jowl lines, a double chin, or a “turkey wattle.”
In such cases, when your neck area causes your face to look aged, drawn, and gaunt, a neck lift is an effective solution.
A neck lift, or lower rhytidectomy, is a type of cosmetic surgical procedure that helps improve all visible signs of aging and sagging in the neck and jawline. If you want a beautiful, slender, and taut neck that you can show off, a neck lift is the best option for you.
What Can a Neck-Lift Surgery Accomplish?
A neck-lift surgery can help remove or reduce:
- Excess fat in the neck area
- Fatty deposits settled just under the chin area
- Loose skin on the neck
- Banding of muscles in the neck region, which creates ugly and abnormal contours
- Jowls and jowl lines
The Neck-Lift Procedure and What to Expect
When coming in for a neck lift, you will first be administered anesthesia. This will ensure that you are comfortable and free of any pain or discomfort for the entirety of the procedure. It can be performed under general anesthesia or under local anesthesia with sedation.
Once the anesthesia has taken effect, Dr. Wallace will proceed to create precise incisions. Typically, an incision will be made below the chin, and in some cases, incisions will also be created behind the earlobes.
These incisions offer Dr. Wallace access to the underlying tissues. He will remove excess fat, tighten and rejoin loose platysma muscles, and trim away excess skin. After recontouring the area, he will redrape and tighten the skin of the neck. The incisions will then be closed using medical stitches.
What Can You Get Done in Addition to a Neck Lift?
There are various other facial-rejuvenation procedures that can be performed along with a neck lift:
- Brow lift – A surgical procedure that helps correct a deeply furrowed or sagging brow.
- Facial fat transfer – A procedure that takes fat from other parts of your body and injects it into your lips and cheeks to enhance them and reduce the appearance of wrinkles.
- Eyelid surgery – A surgical procedure to help rejuvenate and uplift aging eyelids.
