Rhinoplasty in Dallas, TX
A large or misshaped nose often makes anyone feel self-conscious about his or her appearance and may even cause significant breathing problems. Rhinoplasty at A New Reflection Facial Surgery by Dr. Charles A. Wallace treats and corrects nose issues for people living in Plano and Frisco or in areas surrounding Dallas, TX.
What is Rhinoplasty?
Also called a “nose job,” rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure to reshape the size and general appearance of your nose. While it is often a cosmetic procedure, rhinoplasty is also done reconstructively to help people who have significant breathing problems. Once complete, the results are permanent.
The Art of the Face with Rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure that must combine skill and an artistic eye to craft a nose that complements the other features of the face without looking like it has been “done.” With technology, it is possible to digitally create a patient’s face with a newly reshaped nose.
The Benefits of Rhinoplasty
The main result of rhinoplasty is the increased amount of self-confidence. Other benefits from the procedure include:
- Improves breathing
- Removes noticeable bumps
- Reshapes a crooked nose
- Reduces the size of flared nostrils
- Reduces an overly large nose
Is Rhinoplasty Right for Me?
Rhinoplasty may be the right option for you if you are self-conscious about your nose because of its size or shape or if you have severe breathing issues that impede daily activities.
Elements of Rhinoplasty
The procedure for rhinoplasty is done to reshape the nose to aesthetically or functionally correct it. Incisions are typically made inside the nostril where they are not visible. If there are external incisions, they are placed in the creases on the sides of the nose where they are not noticeable and are beneficial when narrowing the nose.
Rhinoplasty takes anywhere from one to three hours depending on the extent of the condition or shape of the nose. With this procedure, we typically use general anesthesia because of the complexity of the condition of the nose with most done as outpatient surgeries.
How Much Does Rhinoplasty Cost?
Several variables play into the cost of rhinoplasty, including the extent of the procedure, why it is being done and whether other procedures are also taking place at the same time. If the procedure is done to correct breathing issues, insurance may provide coverage because it is considered medically necessary. We accept cash, check, Visa®, MasterCard®, American Express® and Discover®, as well as offer financing options with Prosper® Healthcare Lending.
Recovery from rhinoplasty often takes several weeks depending on the extent of the procedure. Initially, it is important to be careful and take the necessary precautions to avoid any direct impact to the nose; this includes avoiding sneezing or anything forceful as the nose is typically packed with bandages for the first few days. Ice packs can help to alleviate swelling and any discomfort.
About two weeks following the procedure, stitches are removed. Dr. Wallace provides each patient with a detailed list of instructions for the recovery. In the months following the procedure, the full outcome of rhinoplasty becomes fully visible.
Getting Back to Normal After Rhinoplasty
Most patients return to work or school within a week or so following rhinoplasty even though it takes several weeks to heal. In those weeks following the procedure, it is important to avoid heavy exercising, bending, and swimming that may raise your blood pressure. Additionally, we recommend you stay out of the sun and keep makeup away from the nose during recovery. Throughout the healing process, Dr. Wallace monitors the healing progress.
