Plastic Surgery Ideas for Fall and Winter

Prospective patients often ask us about what procedures are best for the given time of year. They want to know if it makes more sense to do certain treatments in summer vs. winter.
We believe that certain procedures do have a time of year where the recovery time is more or less optimal. Winter and fall are the most optimal seasons for most surgical procedures. Since the air is colder, you have the opportunity to wear many layers that can conceal your body until you are ready to show it off. Also, many occupations give more time off during these seasons, so you will have ample time to recover in the comfort of your home.
Of course, it would be impossible to identify an ideal time for every procedure – and for some, it doesn’t make a difference if it is summer or winter, but generally, the schedule seems to follow the following schedule:
Procedures Ideal for the Winter Months
In the winter month’s facelifts, nose jobs, brow lifts, breast augmentations, tummy tucks and liposuction are common procedures. During winter you allow yourself ample time to be ready for the summer. After all, no one wants to be recovering from a tummy tuck in the middle of July when they could be showing off their new body!
The cold weather allows us to wear turtlenecks, scarves, and coats that will hide some temporary bruising from the procedures. Also, the days are shorter during the winter, which can be good because direct sunlight is not good for your recovery period.
Procedures Ideal for the Fall
We like to think of fall as the little brother to winter. It is a good time for many procedures, including facelifts, body contouring, breast augmentations, and other facial rejuvenation procedures.
The fall months also bring cooler weather and with cooler weather comes the ability to wear sweaters, coats, scarves, long pants and shirts that can help us conceal our body right after the procedure.
Additionally, the air is cooler and less humid around September, so you will be more comfortable overall. As the days start to become shorter, you can feel at ease knowing that you are not exposing your scars to too much sunlight.
