Chin Implant Dallas

Strong chins give structure to the face, not to mention frame the smile. Charles A. Wallace, M.D. is a board-certified plastic surgeon and performs chin implants on patients living in or around Plano, Frisco or the Dallas, TX area, to give them a stronger looking face framed with a more prominent chin.

What are Chin Implants?

Chin implants are placed through a cosmetic procedure where a small structure is placed beneath the skin in the chin area via a small incision. The implant is shaped to fit your face and add more contoured structure and volume.

The Art of Natural Looking Face with Chin Implants

When individuals consider chin implants, they want a stronger looking appearance. With chin implants, the point of the chin should slightly jut out below the lower lip creating a more proportionate structure of the face around the chin and jawline. It is common for those having chin implant surgery to simultaneously have rhinoplasty (nose surgery) so that the face remains balanced.

Benefits of Chin Implants

Chin implants offer the following benefits:

  • Renewed self-confidence
  • More proportionate facial structure
  • A more natural-looking profile
  • Diminished appearance of a double chin and fleshy neck

Is a Chin Implant Right for Me?

A chin implant is the right choice if you have a recessed chin that gives you the appearance of a fleshy neck or want the stronger structure to your face. The best way to know if this is the best option is to talk with Dr. Wallace about your goals from facial surgery.

Elements of a Chin Implant

During a chin implant, an incision is made along the lower lip just inside the mouth or under the chin. From there, the implant is properly placed, and the incision is stitched close. Most procedures take up to a couple of hours depending on the extent of the surgery and whether it is combined with other procedures. For most chin implants, twilight sedation is used as this is usually an outpatient procedure. With twilight (local anesthesia), patients do not require a breathing tube and are able to quickly come out of the sedation.

How Much Does a Chin Implant Cost?

The cost of a chin implant depends on the extent of the procedure and if it is combined with other cosmetic procedures. Because a chin implant is considered a cosmetic procedure, insurance is not an option to offset the expense. We accept cash, check, Visa®, MasterCard®, American Express® and Discover®, as well as offer financing options with Prosper® Healthcare Lending.

After Your Chin Implant

The recovery from chin implant surgery takes one to two weeks. Stitches inside the mouth are dissolvable with any remaining being removed after a week. For outer stitches under the chin, they are also removed after a week. There is a little discomfort for a few days which is easily remedied with over the counter pain relievers. Additionally, smoothies, milkshakes, and soft food are recommended for the first few days following surgery.

During your consultation, Dr. Wallace, and his staff provide detailed preparation and recovery instructions to ensure proper healing.

Getting Back to Normal Following Chin Implant Surgery

Within a couple of weeks, your new chin looks and feels natural. At that point, you can return to normal activities. Be sure to use sunscreen when outside to avoid direct sunlight on the incision site. Avoid contact sports or anything that could cause direct impact to the chin for at least eight weeks to allow the chin to completely heal.
