Breast Reconstruction Dallas

Jump To:

Breast reconstruction is something many women desire after losing a breast to cancer. Plano and Frisco area women who have undergone a mastectomy may want to consider breast reconstruction surgery performed by board-certified plastic surgeon Charles A. Wallace, M.D.

What is Breast Reconstruction?

Breast reconstruction surgery is performed to recreate a breast that has been removed after a mastectomy. The exact technique will vary based upon the amount of tissue removed and a woman’s own anatomy. Some reconstructions require only a single procedure while others may involve multiple ones to rebuild the breast in phases rather than all at once.

Benefits of Breast Reconstruction

Losing a breast can be devastating for many women, who may feel unattractive after having one or both breasts removed. Self-esteem is a major factor for anyone suffering from cancer, as having a positive attitude and feeling good about oneself can go a long way toward promoting healing. As such, breast reconstruction can not only aid in the recovery process but will also help women get their lives back on track following a mastectomy.

Is Breast Reconstruction Right for Me?

The decision to undergo breast reconstruction is a personal one that should be made after carefully discussing this surgery with a doctor. Some women are able to undergo reconstruction right away while others may be advised to wait until after they have completed treatment. Many women wish to regain their former appearance while others proudly wear their missing breasts as a badge of honor. If you are a woman who has suffered a loss in self-esteem after losing a breast, this surgery could be right for you.

Elements of a Breast Reconstruction

Each reconstruction surgery is performed differently. Dr. Wallace may use one or more of the following techniques to help reconstruct the breast:

  • Adding implants
  • Reforming muscle and skin tissue to create a mound
  • Fat transfer

After researching for about a month on the upcoming surgery that I wanted to get done, I choose Dr. Wallace office for my consultation. Although I felt I had so many of my questions answered based on my own research, Dr. Wallace still educated me on information that only a doctor would know with YEARS OF EXPERIENCE under their belt. The consultation went so smooth. I booked my surgery that day. 2 weeks later I had my surgery and NOW I am 1 month out of surgery and I’m in love with my results. It was everything I wanted and MORE!!! I followed all of instructions he and his staff gave me. Everyone was polite, friendly and professional. Dr. Wallace made this girl VERY happy.
